Creating Adobe Reader ebooks (.pdf)
  • I say with confidence that this is the easy way to create an ebook. There are two straightforward methods as well as some other options.

  • Now, before I get anyone confused (I did say it was easy, right?) let my STATE that Adobe's product names are easy to get mixed up about.

  • First, there is the Acrobat Reader (or Adobe Acrobat Reader). This is the free software that is used for reading any Acrobat (pdf) file. Anymore, this reader is already on most computers. If not, like I said - it's FREE (see readers).

  • The Adobe Acrobat software (Adobe Acrobat as compared to Adobe Acrobat Reader, hence the confusion!) is software that must be purchased. With Adobe Acrobat you can create your own pdf files.

...well written and engaging ...real and believable characters... I recommend this book without reservation.

Adobe Acrobat (the $ product)
  • The Adobe Acrobat software, in the simplest sense, acts like an electronic printer.

  • Once the software is installed the simplest way to use it is to PRINT. That's all it takes! You simply print the document and in the printing process choose the Acrobat PDFwriter.

  • Of course, if you already have the software you already know this and you probably also know there are alot of different options in Adobe Acrobat that you can use to customize the pdf file output.
Adobe Online:
  • Ok, so maybe you don't have the Acrobat software and you don't really want to buy it. Well not to worry!

  • Adobe has come up with a nifty way to create pdf files without buying and installing a thing. This is a relatively new service - Create Adobe PDF Online.

  • This innovative service allows you to create an account with Adobe and then upload a file you want to have a pdf made for. When it is done, they send you an email telling you where to download it from! Ain't that just peachy-keen?

  • I tested the service (it gave me a free trial) and it worked perfectly!

But first...
  • Prepare your document, regardless of which method you use to create your pdf.

  • Start by making the first page your cover by placing in it your cover art (or just a title in large, bold type.

  • If you have cover art, an image 480 pixels wide and 540 pixels high seems to work well but it can be any size that fits on a single page so don't feel bound by this.

  • If your book is in Microsoft Word or any other program that allows you to build a table of contents, by all means do so! (if it makes sense to have one) Make this your second page.

  • Then when you're ready, go pdf it!
