ebooks explained
  • Primarily, you buy ebooks over the internet. This is the distribution method that makes sense and is how almost all ebooks are sold.

  • There are many sites that sell ebooks including the major retailers and book publishers

(Warning: Beware of the plethora of pretenders in the ebook publishing business. There are alot of new internet publishers that will publish practically anything. One quick check is to look at their submission guidelines. If they charge authors to publish their books I suggest that you run away.)

such as Double Dragon Publishing (publisher for my book, Dangerous Dreams). Once you find the book(s) you want and buy them you will receive a method to download your books to your computer.

  • Once you have your ebooks (they're files) on your computer you can read them on your computer or load them onto your ebook device through the supplied cable and software that came with the device.

  • That's all there is to it. Bing, bang, boing you are ready to read!

  • Oh, one note. Make sure you select the right format for the device you plan to read your ebook on. If you are unsure as to which format you should choose, please visit the readers link on this page!
What are my rights?
  • There is some confusion about ebook owner's rights. To set the record straight, they are no different than if you purchased a printed book.

  • When you buy an ebook you become the owner of a copy of the book, in one of the ebook formats - such as palm, pocket pc, franklin ebookman, hiebook, rocket, or gemstar (many of which can be used/read on a PC as well - see ebook readers).

  • You can read your book, give it away when you are done with it or sell your copy to another person.

  • However, it is illegal to make copies of your ebook copy for free distribution to others or to sell. Even though it may seem harsh to say it, to do this is stealing. The Author and Publisher of each ebook have worked hard to create, prepare and market the work in a very competitive, challenging market. If you enjoyed the book, then please consider respecting the rights of those who made it available for you.
